Breaking news: ACN governorship candidate in the 2007 elections,Rauf
Aregbesola declared winner by the court of appeal.
The above newsflash graced TV screen,some with mini documentary showing
the beginning of the legal battle to reclaim the Osun state no. 1 seat.
Expectedly,the papers will be agog today with congratulatory messages,
mainly from the oppositions,for Aregbesola praising him for his doggedness
and belief in the law while also praising the court for their forthrightness.
After this, we all go back to sleep. Electoral reforms will be amended on
newspapers and political TV shows.Politicians go back to politiking,INEC
focus on 2011 elections,civil right groups beats the street for free and
fair election.
Post election matters are left till after elections,so that the oyinlolas,
ngiges etc can stay illegally in power for 3yrs before being ejected by the
court of appeals.Enough is enough....lets do the right thing!
National assembly pass electoral reform laws and strenghten electoral
tribunals so that electoral matters can be concluded at most Six months after
election.
